Rough Rider’s Dedication, Sat. Nov. 4, 10:00 AM, Spanish-American War Memorial Park –  Shout-out to the Port Tampa City Woman’s Club and the Rough Riders for again making improvements to Port Tampa City’s Spanish-American War Memorial Park and their generosity to the Port Tampa City community.

Sponsored by the Port Tampa City Woman’s Club, speakers included City Councilman Harry Cohen, PTC Woman’s Club President Maria Chesser, and Rough Riders Club founder Charlie Spicola.

The Rough Riders continue their history of support of the Port Tampa City community. They have refurbished the original marker dedicated to the memory of veterans encamped in our neighborhood in preparation for embarkment to Cuba for the Spanish-American War in 1898.  The Rough Riders previously rededicated the Spanish-American War Memorial Park in 1998, refurbished the historic marker “Tampa as Embarkation Point for the Spanish American War”, and rebuilt the park’s gazebo in 2013.
